Announcements

  • August 26, 2024:

To enhance system security, WMATC has strengthened the password requirements for e-filing accounts. Effective immediately, all users must reset their passwords before they can successfully log into the e-filing system.

To reset your password, proceed to the WMATC e-filing login screen, and click on “forgot your password.” You will be prompted to enter the email address associated with your e-filing account. An email containing a verification code will be sent to you. On the WMATC website, enter your username and copy and paste the verification code from the email into the form. Alternatively, if you click on the link in the password reset email, the verification code will automatically populate, and you can type your username and click submit. You will then be prompted to choose a new password and re-enter it to confirm accuracy.

If you encounter problems while resetting your password, call the Commission during office hours for assistance.

The Commission has issued a notice of proposed ratemaking to consider amendments to the rates and charges for interstate trips in Washington Flyer taxicabs, which transport passengers to and from Washington Dulles International Airport.

The proposal under consideration would change the $3.00 surcharge on each trip originating or terminating at Dulles Airport to a surcharge equal to any Dulles Airport per-trip fee in effect, currently $5.00.

Written comments are due no later than December 8, 2023. See the Rulemakings & Taxicab Ratemakings page.

Notice of Commission meeting to be held on September 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM

          • Attention all Carriers:

The District of Columbia has vehicle registration requirements for chartered buses seating more than 15 passengers that are operated within the District of Columbia.  Under these requirements, such vehicles must either: (1) be registered as a commercial vehicle within Washington D.C. and bear Washington DC license plates; (2) be registered in their home state with apportioned license plates; or (3) display a valid trip permit from the DC Department of Motor Vehicles.  A trip permit costs $50, lasts 6 days, and covers only one specific vehicle.

Compliance with this law does not exempt a carrier from WMATC requirements, and possession of WMATC operating authority does not exempt a carrier from compliance with the District of Columbia law.  For more information about the new D.C. charter bus requirements, contact the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles at (202) 737-4404 or visit https://dmv.dc.gov/node/1119521.
